Christian Dimpker: N. 38 Holistic notation study VI {The holy trinity of op-pression}

Short Description / Kurzbeschreibung

N. 38 Holistic notation study VI {The holy trinity of op-pression} conjures abstract imagery and contemplates impressive figures from (church) history, yet also looks forward with hope to the future of free self-expression. The piece is designed as a large-scale installation for churches or industrial halls using three laser projectors and specially produced church windows that act as light filters. However, it can also be transferred to three transparent screens or even be reduced to a single screen. The images and sounds, as well as the loudspeakers and windows, are in continuous rotation. This may be understood as a reference to Bruno and Galilei, which play an important role in the work. However, the central historical figure of the piece is a gender-fluid, feminist icon by the name of d’Arc. The piece is placed in churches not to confront, but to deal with history in a critical manner in order to create a better future.
