Competition for contemporary music and media arts 2019

Supported by the neue musikzeitung, the Christoph and Stephan Kaske Foundation announces the JukeBoxx-NewMusic Award. The competition is addressed to composers and artists in the field of contemporary music and media arts.

It wants to enable a multitude of composers to let their latest work be reviewed by an independant jury. The award given to the winner is endowed with prize money of € 3,500 by the foundation.

The competition seeks for visualized music of at most 12 minutes in length. Video productions with interrelated acoustic and visual layers are wanted. The award wants to honour not only individual compositions, but also works resulting from cooperations between composers and visual artists. In the submitted clip the connection between music and visual arts should be individually recognizable. A mere documentation of a performance or the manifestation in scores does usually not suffice to fulfill these criteria. Sought is rather a production of a visual „Hörspiel“, artistically connecting contemporary music, electronic or experimental music with media and video arts or digital arts.

Suitable works should be transmitted as a video clip of high visual and acoustic quality on The work must not have been composed before October 2016 and must not exceed 12 minutes of length.
