Stefanie Sixt: DYSCRHONIA V

Ist Zeit Geld? Oder ist Zeit nicht einfach nur Zeit? Unsere Wahrnehmung der Zeit scheint jedenfalls eine getriebene, eine gestörte, eine mehr und mehr ungesunde zu sein.

Statt in der Gegenwart den Lauf der Dinge wahrzunehmen, sind wir von anstehenden Terminen gehetzt, trotzdem wird jede Sekunde genutzt, um online zu sein. Special offer – only until tomorrow! Es offenbart sich ein Lifestylemix aus Raffgier und Verschwendungssucht, eine physische Präsenz ist hierbei immer seltener von Nöten.

Und doch „haben“ wir immer weniger Zeit!

Seit Beginn der Menschheit ist die Überwindung der Zeit, die Unsterblichkeit das Ziel. Maschinelle Ersatzteile für Körper sind bereits Realität und der Upload des Bewusstseins ist Bestandteil aktueller Forschung.

In unserer digitalisierten Gesellschaft geht lediglich der Verlust verloren, nicht aber Information, die sich in binäre Codes umwandeln lässt. Die Überwindung der Zeit, ohne sie erfüllend ausgelebt zu haben, scheint zu beginnen.

An dieser Schnittstelle soziokultureller bzw. philosophischer Beobachtungen setzt Stefanie Sixts und Markus Mehrs künstlerische Arbeit an.

Biographie Stefanie Sixt (Visuals)

After her studies of Art and Communication-Design (Audiovisual Medias) in the Netherlands and Germany Stefanie Sixt founded her label sixt sense in 2000 in Cologne, further in Berlin, Philadelphia, actually Augsburg. She has produced numerous experimental short films, music videos, conceptual visual arts, audiovisual live (dance) performances and video installations.

Since 2010 she has been teaching at different universities of applied sciences.

In her art she is reflecting inner processes about the relation of human and nature, physical restriction and its resolution. Sixts´ form of expression is progressively abstract and reduced, as she is focusing on working in black and white.

She won several awards and distinctions, her work was shown on festivals e.g. in Berlin (GER), Stockholm (SW), Harare (ZW), Venice (IT) and internationally exhibited at galleries and in museums.

By the end of 2012 Stefanie Sixt was part of the Artist in Residence program of Künstlerdorf Schöppingen, her experimental movie “Duck Became Swan” was selected for German Shorts 2014 by the Federal German Short Film Association, “Silestra” nominated for the Heritage in Motion Award by the European Museum Academy and Europa Nostra.

She won the Art Prize CBM 2015 – Turin – Prag – London, 2016 she won the Media Award of Augsburg. www.sixt-sense.de

Biography Markus Mehr (Musik)

Markus Mehr is a musician and composer of experimental music. One focus of his compositions lies in sculpting of sound to audible plastics and collages.
His musical roots initially are in rock music as can be heard on numerous album releases published under various band. After being on tour for years with the projects mentioned above, Mehr decided to take a musical new step, to release under his name.

With the album „LAVA“ (Hidden Shoal) in June 2010 he shows his love for experimental music.

In January 2012 “IN” is published followed by the albums “ON” (July 2012) and “OFF” (January 2013). The focus of this triptych is on repetitive compositions, canons, broken open by elements of noise. His music was part of the theatre performance “First Life” by Verena Billinger and Sebastian Schulz.

Mehr´s next album “BINARY ROOMS” was released in October 201 and shows a more electronical side combined with phonographies.

On the piece “RE-DIRECTED” (2016) he was concentrating on non-harmonic structures, recording hard discs, servers and other devices with contact microphones. All of them are reviewed worldwide. In January of the same year “Brecht – In a different Light” was composed and performed at the Brecht Festival Augsburg, including additional compositions by Markus Mehr. www.markusmehr.de
