Diana Ezerex: Ambivalence
Short Description / Kurzbeschreibung
A distorted reality. Two beings exist—searching for each other, pushing each other away. Opposites, yet one and the same: facets of a single identity, trapped in tension between control and surrender, fear and curiosity, order and dissolution.
One figure—dressed in light, traced with dark—moves with hesitation, seeking stability. They sense their counterpart but resist full connection. The other—a shadow streaked with brightness—is untamed, provocative. They challenge, crave touch, long to feel their own limits.
What begins as a cautious approach turns into inner struggle. Faces are touched, lines blurred; black and white dissolve. The light figure tears their garment—rebellion, or liberation? But beneath, only black. The contrast they clung to was illusion.
Exhausted, they lie on the torn fabric—remnants of a former self. The dark figure rests against a cold wall. A moment of stillness before the cycle begins again.
“Ambivalence” is a cinematic meditation on identity, conflict, and the impossible desire to escape internal and external expectations. A story of unresolved contrasts, endlessly negotiated.
For the soundtrack, Diana Ezerex leaves behind her familiar blend of pop, rock, and R&B, venturing into experimental terrain. Merging contemporary classical with free improvisation, she crafts a dissonant, fragile soundscape of sudden breaks and haunting melodies—echoing the emotional unrest and transformation at the heart of the film. A distorted reality where two beings exist as opposites yet one and the same, caught in tension between control and surrender. One, dressed in light, hesitates; the other, shadowed, provokes. Their struggle blurs distinctions until light dissolves into darkness—contrast was an illusion. Ambivalence explores identity and conflict, with Diana Ezerex’s experimental score mirroring the turmoil.
